Soy holds up to Scrutiny!
There is a lot of debate going on in a lot of circles about the benefits of soy, some resulting in some unfounded myths. The Soy Myth Busters are here to debunk them!
Myth 1: Soy is only for Vegetarians
The Soy Myth Busters determine that while once considered an “alternative” food source, soy foods have moved from the “vegetarian only” aisle to mainstream aisles all over the store! With the growth in the number of soy products it has become a healthy and readily available product for all to enjoy, and found more easily by visiting www.genisoy.com. This myth is definitely busted!
Myth 2: Soy foods cause cancer
Myth #2 argues that the phytoestrogens (plant estrogens) contained in soy foods actually promote the growth of some cancers. We bust this myth by simply looking at the majority of research done, which shows soy to have an inhibitory effect on the growth of cancer. The Soy Myth Busters want to remind our audience to pay attention to who is actually doing the research.
Myth 3: Good Soy products are hard to find
Anyone reading this newsletter probably agrees with the Soy Myth Busters that a huge variety of soy snacks, chips and foods are easier than ever to find and enjoy. Products can be readily found at your local grocery store and even now more easily found at www.genisoy.com where you can purchase and have delivered to your doorstep. How hard is that?
Myth #4: Soy has no flavor
Wow is this ever an old one! The Soy Myth Busters easily debunk this myth by simply pointing to the incredibly tasty variety of flavors found in all of the Genisoy products (http://www.genisoy.com/products). We have long past the “tasteless” age of soy products and have developed an array of products into many delicious flavors.
Myth #5: Soy causes dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and reduces brain cognitive activity.
This one is easy! Simply look at the vast majority of research relating to soy food consumption and brain health. They show soy to have a beneficial and protective effect on the brain, not a damaging effect. So Phytoestrogens are protective, not harmful, to the brain.
Myth #6: Soy causes infertility and reproductive health problems
Myth #6 argues that soy causes hormonal problems, infertility, and demasculinization of men. If you dig into this one you’ll find some research conclusions based on some very irregular research practices. One study found that if you feed a rodent soy isolates during pregnancy and lactation you just might have some negative effects. The Soy Myth Busters had to ask just one question on this study. Since there is a huge difference in the amounts of estrogen to which humans and fetal rats are exposed in utero, and rats aren’t naturally designed to be exposed to large amounts of estrogen, isn’t it likely that a baby rat is going to be just a little more sensitive to the effects of introducing massive amounts of isoflavones? There is a common sense element to research that is often ignored in the attempt to come up with a desired result. Plus, the rat research results have NOT been duplicated on humans. Myth busted!
